Crissi Langwell

Crissi Langwell writes romance, women's fiction, young adult novels, and more. Her passion is the story of the underdog, and her stories include ones of determined heroines, family issues, free spirits and more. Beyond writing, Crissi is an avid bookworm, loves to meditate, and has tiny muscles from weight lifting. You have to look closely. She pulls her inspiration from the ocean, and breathes freely among redwoods. Crissi and her husband are both Northern California authors with day jobs. Currently they are kicking their kids out the nest (2 down, 1 to go!), and can't help spoiling their beautiful, bratty Maine Coon cat.

Using Robots to Keep the Pace

This morning I saw an ad on writing blog posts faster with robots. And it perfectly summed up the disgust I feel toward what it takes to keep my name out there. That we must now rely on effing ROBOTS to be able to keep the pace.

Wintering My Writing Routine

Here’s the truth of it all. I am passionate about writing. But once I started publishing, I replaced the need for creativity with a need to escape the daily grind of 9-5 work. My life goal became to make enough money from my books to quit my day job altogether and write for a living….

Poem: Wolf Howl (and the back story)

Watch any movie about an accident, and good cinematography will play the scene in slow motion. This is what it felt like as I sailed through air. I was aware of everything – the feeling of weightlessness before I landed, watching my dad drive away, believing he’d never know I was gone and I’d be lost forever.

Short Story: How to Survive the Wild

A few years ago, I wrote a book called Turtle Treasure as my NaNoWriMo novel. I never published it, but it was a fun and non-serious novel about adventure in the face of deep-seated fears. This is an adapted excerpt from that novel, and it recently won a prize in a short story contest.
