The Origins of Ashton Elliot: A Second Chance at Love and Storytelling

If you’ve been following along, you know Ashton Elliot is Jordy Gallo’s leading man in The Jilted Lovers Club. But did you know he first made an appearance in one of my earlier books?

Back in 2018, Hope for the Broken Girl introduced Ashton as a side character—a sexy cannabis farmer who had a heart of gold, but never got his shot at love.

Unfortunately, this Hope series book also never got its moment. I released it just after my hometown experienced a devastating fire. I worked for the newspaper at the time and part of the crew covering the fires. When it came time to publish, I had nothing left in the tank to promote it. When it came time to release this book, it was without much fanfare. And yet, Hope for the Broken Girl remains deeply personal to me—it explores themes of domestic violence, something I’ve experienced firsthand.

It’s my hope that you will fall in love with Ashton, a character I always felt deserved more of the spotlight. But I also hope it brings you all to the Hope series. If you’re into contemporary women’s fiction that follows a single teen mom through poverty, homelessness, and hardship (and yes, there’s a happy ending), then this series could be for you.

Have you read Hope for the Broken Girl? Or are you meeting Ashton for the first time in The Jilted Lovers Club? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. I shared an excerpt from this series in my newsletter last week. If you’re not a subscriber, WHY NOT? Here’s where you can sign up.

P.P.S. Because I’m nice, here’s a link to the newsletter with the excerpt.
