That’s right, we have a release date! The sequel to “A Symphony of Cicadas” is March 15th, 2014. That’s when the answer to What happened to Joey???? will finally be answered.
Today was kind of a milestone for me. After several rounds of editing, I finally reached the point where I feel I can’t do anything else to change the story before my editor looks it over. We’re waiting until after the holidays before I hand it over to her, and she should have it back to my by February.
So why wait until March to release it?
Trust me, I’m dying here to get this book into your hands. I feel like I’ve been holding on to the story for months (because, well, I have). I’ve even written another rough draft of a story in between finishing this one and when it will be published. If I had pushed harder, I probably could have had this book published a month or so ago.
But I don’t want to rush this.
There are several things that still need to be done. I want to spend a good amount of time focusing on the cover, and this time I’m working with one of my talented friends to get that done. There’s a ton of promotion ideas I want to put in place to ensure this book gets the attention it deserves instead of having a few strong weeks and then disappearing among the millions of books already out there. And I want a chance to give away a few advance copies to a few of you loyal fans, because, well, you deserve to read this story before everyone else.
Also, March 15th is kind of a special day. That’s the exact day I published A Symphony of Cicadas, the first book of this two-part series, and the starting point towards the career I’m building as an author. Since that day, I have published two more books, and there will be many more to come. So since it all started on March 15th, I thought it only fitting that the sequel share it’s publishing day with the one-year anniversary of my very first published novel.
