New beginnings

With one book ready to be edited and another 1/4 of the way done in its rough draft stages, I am closing in on being an actual published author.  Of course, these things take time – mostly wasted time as I have trudged through the muck of fear and hesitation.  Fear of what?  I’m not exactly sure.  All I know is when you’ve put as much of your soul into something, it’s totally paralyzing to think it might amount to nothing.  That’s a ridiculous thing to paralyze you, however, since DOING nothing will amount to nothing.

I have found new wings in this writing adventure by deciding to bypass the search for an agent (at least for now) and a publisher by going the route of self-publishing through createspace.com.  To motivate me as I write out my rough draft for After Life, I have created a cover for it, and I look at it whenever I feel a little bit like lagging.

By the time the novel is actually bound, the cover will likely look completely different.  But it helps to have something solid to look at with my name on it.  In the meantime, it’s a draw whether this will be my first published book, or if the rough draft novel I already have written (named, for now, Brick and Mortar) will make it to book status first.

At any rate, here’s to a new author page, two soon-to-be published books, and new beginnings.  Thanks for coming with me on the journey!
